3/52 (Project 365) || Beaumont Documentary Photographer

Another week!  “They”, whoever “they” are, say it takes about 21 days to form a habit.  There must be some validity to that, because I swear this is getting easier and easier.  I am having less “Oh CRAP I forgot to shoot today!” moments and more “Oh man, I took so many photos today.  How am I going to pick just one?!”  All in all, not the worst problem to have.  I really tried to challenge myself this week with working on my color processing.  With documentary imagery, I jump so quick towards a black and white edit because it’s so much more emotional for me.  It really strips away all of the distractions and makes you focus on the details and the connection.  But sometimes color processes are necessary and the right move.  The whole point of this little exercise is to hone in on my skills so I can be better for you guys, so I thought – why not?!

I snuck a few black and white ones in.  Y’all can’t expect me to just quit cold turkey.

Day 17: So I’m taking this business course designed for photographers. It is a doozy, and it. is. amazing. I feel like I’m in college again, only this is so much better. I’m two weeks into a 3-6 month course and I’ve already learned so much my head could just explode (not literally, gross). This view is pretty constant.

Day 18: I have a porch! My dad and my husband built it with their bare hands! I am so proud, and so excited. It did my heart good to see these two tackle this project together.

Day 19: Naptime.

Day 20: Chasing bugs in the dark on the new deck. The rails and roof went up the next day, so I’m super glad I had the chance to grab this one shot.

Day 21: The places he tries to “hide” from me when he steals my phone and runs away are truly amazing sometimes…
