6/52 (Project 365) | Beaumont Documentary Style Photographer

I have been drowning in busy season.  I have barely had time to pick up my camera for any personal projects at all, but every once in a while, even with clients waiting and the phone ringing and emails lining up to be answered, you have to stop and remind yourself what’s important.  That you’ll never have this day again with your child.  And do you want them to remember the stressed, hurried, frazzled mama?  Or the mama who always made time for them, who always made their little jokes and stories seem like the most important thing in the world?

I’m trying real hard to be that second type of mama.

I’m not always doing a good job.

But I’m trying.

Isn’t it funny the things that we think we’re teaching our kids, when all the while, they’re the ones teaching us?

The good news is – tomorrow is brand new.  Whatever you’re struggling with today, whatever is burying you and making you that first type of mama, it’s okay.  Nobody’s perfect.  Nobody is that second type of mama all the time.  Give yourself some grace.  Oprah says when you know better, you do better.  And tomorrow, give yourself the chance to do better.

I realized like three days ago that I can’t count.  Last post, I included 8 images instead of 7, so the first one here is a repeat.  We’ll just pretend it didn’t take me so long to figure that out.  Let’s play catch up!

36: Daddy's working on the tractor while baby yells encouragement from the porch. Before we moved out here, Ezra was so afraid of any kind of loud noise. This move was hard, one of the hardest things we've done, but seeing him relax around machinery in general is just one of the millions of reasons this move has been so good for all of us. Watching Ezra out here is like watching a little chicken hatch. Country life agrees with us.

He loves it, and wants to do it constantly, even right before bed when he's supposed to be brushing his teeth.42: I don’t want this to turn into a novel, and this definitely isn’t a paid endorsement or anything, but ABCMouse.com is seriously one of the best investments we’ve made in a good long while.
